Proposed Change of status of the hall from a Trust to a SCIO

At a Special General Meeting held on 29th February it was agreed, by the residents of the village who were present, to change the status of the hall from that of a Charitable Trust to that of a Scottish Incorporated Charitable Organisation (SCIO).
The necessary legal work will now be undertaken to allow that change to take place.  Once the assets of the Trust have been transferred, the Charitable Trust will be wound up.

The new SCIO is a membership organisation and in order to have any say in how the village hall is run in future, residents need to become members of the SCIO.  There is no commitment to anything arising from membership, however it is important that the Trustees of the hall can be held responsible and answerable to the residents of the village, who are technically the ultimate owners of the building.   Membership is open to anyone over the age of 16 who lives in the EH43 postcode area.  Becoming a member is a simple process and can be done by completing a membership application form which is available by clicking on this link.  Completed forms should be put into letter box at the village hall.

The hall is available for hire for private parties with a stage, and a fully fitted kitchen. There is disabled access, the hall has both small and large tables, and seating for 220.

It provides a meeting place for all village groups' coffee mornings, Community Council, Village Show and many more groups throughout the year.

Enquiries for bookings are always welcome.
