Cat Worsley Proposed Change from a Trust to a SCIO The hall is a charity which is currently governed by a Deed of Trust drawn up in 1908. In 2020-21 the Trustees and Management Committee agreed to convert the hall from a Trust to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO).As a SCIO the hall will be administered and regulated by one body (Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR)) and will operate under a constitution which reflects modern society and conventions. It will give the Trustees freedom to take decisions and act on those decisions in pursuit of the charity purposes and will streamline the management structure. As a SCIO the hall will be in a better position to attract funding from other organisations and it will be able to enter into contracts. Under the guidance and scrutiny of OSCR work to convert the hall to a SCIO began in January 2023 and has made good progress to date including ratification of a new constitution (click here to view the new constitution) and creation of a new SCIO charity. When the Trustees are in a position to transfer the Title of the hall building itself from the existing Trust charity to the new SCIO charity they will convene a Special General Meeting to ensure they have the support of the village.
The hall is available for hire for private parties with a stage, and a
fully fitted kitchen. There is disabled access, the hall has both small
and large tables, and seating for 220.
